Dell OpenManage Ubuntu and Debian Repositories

This is Dell OpenManage repository for Ubuntu Server LTS and selected Debian releases support. The repository includes OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA), iDRAC Service Module(iSM) and Deployment Tool Kit (DTK). Refer the below availability matrix for supported operating system versions and the corresponding OpenManage products supported versions. For more information about products, see the corresponding documents. Product document links are provided below. For any issue, reach us through mailing list provided below.

For old OMSA versions for those releases, visit here. Below, you will find instructions on how to install and setup OpenManage command-line and web interfaces.

Availability Matrix

Installation

1. Create the file '/etc/apt/sources.list.d/linux.dell.com.sources.list'. Cut and paste the command below (if typing by hand, note carefully the spacing).

   $ sudo echo 'deb http://linux.dell.com/repo/community/openmanage/{product-version}/{release-name} {release-name} main' | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/linux.dell.com.sources.list

   Example:
   

   $ sudo echo 'deb http://linux.dell.com/repo/community/openmanage/930/bionic bionic main' | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/linux.dell.com.sources.list

2. To verify OMSA packages, add the repository key to apt.

   $ sudo wget https://linux.dell.com/repo/pgp_pubkeys/0x1285491434D8786F.asc

   $ sudo apt-key add 0x1285491434D8786F.asc

3. Make apt aware of the new software repository by issuing the following command:

   $ sudo apt-get update

4. Install one of the following selection of meta-packages to install the OMSA functionality you require:

   
   

   srvadmin-all	— Install all OMSA components
   srvadmin-cm	— Install Inventory collector (IC)
   srvadmin-base *	— Install only base OMSA, no web server
   srvadmin-idrac *	— Install components to manage iDRAC
   srvadmin-idrac7 *	— Install Racadm for iDRAC7
   srvadmin-idracadm8	— Install Racadm for iDRAC8 and above
   srvadmin-webserver *	— Install Web Interface
   srvadmin-storageservices *	— Install RAID Management
   syscfg*	— Install SysCfg
   raidcfg*	— Install RaidCfg
   dcism	— Install iDRAC Service Module

   
   

   * not available with OMSA v8.3
   
   For example, to install all of OMSA:

   $ sudo apt-get install srvadmin-all

   For example, to install only racadm component for iDRAC8 and above:

   $ sudo apt-get install srvadmin-idracadm8

   For example, to install iDRAC Service Module 3.2 on iDRAC7 and above:

   $ sudo apt-get install dcism

Upgrade

OMSA upgrade is not supported from previous version(s) to v9.0.1 or v9.0.2 or v9.1.1. It is highly recommended that you first remove any previous installation and then install the latest version by following the installation steps mentioned above.

Removal

• Uninstall all packages:

  $ sudo apt-get --auto-remove remove srvadmin-all

• Uninstall all packages including config files:

  $ sudo apt-get --auto-remove purge srvadmin-all

CLI

The dataeng service, which is required to run any CLI commands in OMSA, starts automatically at reboot. If you want to manually start the service, issue the command below.

1. sudo service dataeng start
2. Now, you can use the omreport, omconfig, and omhelp commands.
3. For example, you can issue omreport system summary to get details about your system.
4. You can use omconfig to configure component properties.
5. omhelp provides help information for commands.

Web Interface

To use web interface, users with appropriate permissions need to be added.

1. Add users with appropriate permissions to /opt/dell/srvadmin/etc/omarolemap file. See detailed information in the User's Guide available from the documentation link below for your version of OMSA. For example:

   john_doe     *     Administrator

2. Start the web server.

   $ sudo service dsm_om_connsvc start

3. Go to https://<ip_address>:1311/ in your browser to access OMSA.
4. If you want to start the dsm_om_connsvc service at boot, issue the following command:

   $ sudo update-rc.d dsm_om_connsvc defaults

iDRAC Service Module(iSM) Installation Procedure:

Starting

 iSM 3.5.1

, before installing

 dcism-<version.no>.<build.no>.ubuntu.<version.no>.deb 

package, user has to install the

 OSCollector package 

using the below command

dpkg -i dcism-osc-<version.no>.<build.no>.ubuntu.<version.no>.deb

Known Issues

OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA):
1. Dell recommends connecting to Server Administrator directly from Ubuntu or Debian MN through web interface (GUI) or command line interface (CLI). Connecting from Server Administrator webserver (DWS) to remote Managed Node (MN) with Ubuntu or Debian OS is not supported.
2. Inventory Collector package (srvadmin-cm) is not installed by default through srvadmin-all command. To use inventory collector (IC) feature, install manually using the command:

   $ sudo apt install srvadmin-cm
